Choosing the right bodyboard is about more than just size or core material. At FLOW, we look at different characteristics to help you find the board that best matches your experience and the conditions you surf.

Rider

Beginner
Designed for riders who are starting out or looking for an easy, stable and forgiving board.

Intermediate
For riders who already have good basic skills and are looking for more control, response and performance.

Advanced
For experienced riders looking for a more responsive board and higher performance.

Wave Energy

Wave Energy describes the amount of power and energy in the waves — not simply their size.

Low
For softer waves with low energy and less power.

Low-Mid
For waves with low to moderate energy, offering a good balance between comfort and performance.

Mid
For waves with moderate energy and a wide range of conditions.

Mid-High
For waves with more power and pressure, requiring a more responsive board.

High
For powerful, high-energy waves where control, response and speed are essential.

All-Round
Designed to perform across a wide range of wave conditions and energy levels.

Core

The core material is an important part of a bodyboard's performance, but it does not define the rider level or Wave Energy on its own.

A PE board, for example, can be an excellent choice for an intermediate rider while still performing very well in powerful waves. Likewise, a PP board is not automatically an advanced or high-energy board.

Our Rider and Wave Energy ratings are based on the overall design, construction, flex, shape and intended use of each board — not on the core material alone.
